CDS SNEAK PEEK

And for my third and final sneak peek TODAY I'm showing Old Time Church which will also be available to you on March 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps (www.cdstamps.com)

Also sneak peeking this set is: Laurie, Nancy, Candy. You can find their direct links in my sidebar.

This first card I used the Heavy Metal Background stamp, I stamped it with Black Craft ink and embossed it with Black powder. The windows in the Church are coloured in with my Zig Painty silver metallic marker and the sky is sponged with my stipple brush and Pacific Point ink. I added stripped grosgrain and silver brads as embellishments.

This second card I went with Baja Breeze and Creamy Caramel paired with Ivory. The first thing I did was run the Baja through the Big Shot on my Top Notes Die. Second I stuck a sheet of Sook Wang double sided tape to a piece of Ivory card stock that I had stamped the Church on and ran that through the Big Shot. I trimmed down it's edges with my hobby Blade and snips to give it the layered effect the ripped off the Sook Wang backing and added the glitter.

I used Stripped Grosgrain and my horizontal slit punch on the sides, and my Oval punches for the sentiment. I sponged EVERYTHING in the end and accidentally got it on my ribbon. I panicked a bit then remember my Copic Colourless Blender would push the colour right through and it did!

CDS SNEAK PEEK

This set is called In God's Hands and is available March 1st over at Clear Dollar Stamps http://www.cdstamps.com/

Also sneak peeking this set is: Laurie, Nancy, Stacy, Candy (you can find direct links in my side bar)

The first card I did was an inspirational challenge of a green Hawaiian shirt so I cut out a zillion flowers from the Aloha set and popped a brad in the center. I used Crystal Effects to adhere them and watercolour paper to give the blended colouring. I also used my 5 petal punch for the leaves. My card stock colours are Glorious Green and Green Galore.

I used Copics: YG01-05-06-07, G05-19.

This next card I used In God's Hands just as a sentiment along with Baby Charlie as the focal. I decided this would be the perfect card to accomplish another challenge, using fabric/cloth, so I used my super wide stripped grosgrain and Fleurette's from SU! Also in there you got a half pearls from my Pretties kit and some Ivory Flower Soft. I used my Big Shot with the swirly Cuttlebug template and my Scalloped Nestabilities from www.cdstamps.com. My colours are Riddinghood Red and Pink Pirouette with Ivory. I coloured with Copics: E41-42.

CDS SNEAK PEEK

Also sneak peeking him is: Laurie, Kim, Monique, Katie, Linda, Stacy, Alex, Candy (who's links you can find in my side bar)

My first card is a sideways sketch challenge AND a colour challenge:o) The colours are More Mustard, Baja Breeze and Taken with Teal. I used my Big shot and my Nestibilities for my oval scallops. I used Sook Wang double sided tape topped with Fine Cosmo Glitter for my strips and tied 1/4" Grosgrain on them and sponged my edges to soften them. Then I topped the flowers off with Crystal Effects.

I coloured with Copics: E42-43, BG00-72, B04.

For this next card I took on the challenge of no designer paper by 2 step stampin the the solid and outlined flowers in this set with Pale and Perfect Plum ink. I added So Saffron as my third colour because well lets face these colours REALLY go together:o) I also used my Scalloped edge punch. I coloured with Copics: V95-99, YR31, G85, E42-43, C2.

I have around 10 pre-set posts to share with you though out the remainder of the month and will be back March 1st with some new stuff.

Claddagh Lock Box

Being Irish, complements of my Father who was born in Northern Ireland, I grew up with the stories of the Claddagh Ring and I thought it would be nice to share them with you:o)

For those of you not familiar "The Claddagh ring is a traditional Irish ring given in friendship or worn as a wedding ring. The design and customs associated with it originated in the Irish fishing village of Claddagh, located just outside the old walls of the city of Galway. The ring was first produced in the 17th century during the reign of Queen Mary II, though elements of the design are much older.

One tale is about Margaret Joyce, a woman of the Joyce clan. She married a Spanish merchant named Domingo de Rona. She went with him to Spain, but he died and left her a large sum of money. She returned to Ireland and, in 1596, married Oliver Óg French, the mayor of Galway. With the money she inherited from her first marriage, she funded the construction of bridges in Connacht. All this out of charity, so one day an eagle dropped the Claddagh ring into her lap, as a reward.

Another story tells of a Prince who fell in love with a common maid. To convince her father his feelings were genuine and he had no intentions of "using" the girl, he designed a ring with hands representing friendship, a crown representing loyalty, and a heart representing love. He proposed to the maid with this ring, and after the father heard the explanation of the symbolism of the ring, he gave his blessing.

One legend that may be closer to historical truth is of a man named Richard Joyce, another member of the Joyce clan and a native of Galway. He left his town to work in the West Indies, intending to marry his love when he returned. However, his ship was captured and he was sold as a slave to a Moorish goldsmith. In Algiers, with his new master, he was trained in his craft. When William III became king, he demanded the Moors release all British prisoners. As a result, Richard Joyce was set free. The goldsmith had such a great amount of respect for Richard Joyce that he offered Joyce his daughter and half his wealth if Joyce stayed, but he denied his offer and returned home to marry his love who awaited his return. During his time with the Moors, he forged a ring as a symbol of his love for her. Upon his return, he presented her with the ring and they were married".

This info was complements of Wikipedia:o)

So I made this alterable Provo Craft tin (purchasable at Michael's) with retired Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper called Fall Flowers. I used Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware with silver brads for the emblem, A wide range of co-ordinating ribbons for the handle. And the Designer Label and 1-1/4" Circle Punches for the Cladddagh image from Blarney Stone. I colored with Copics: YG91-93-95, BG000, E00.

I sure hope you enjoyed this trip through Irish History and seeing my little project:o)

Copic Crazy

Okay so I showed you all THE BEST MAIL DELIVERY EVER that I received last spring. Well since then I have struggled with storage.

I used the plastic cases for a while, JUST learning last week that when you put the lid on the bottom case they become MUCH more sturdy. Anyways I HATED having all those case floating around so I decided to buy 5 of the wire stands Copic sells. Well those puppies are $85 CAD and I'd need 5. So I bought 2 from the US before I came across display option #3. They are now for sale at Be Creative in Pitt Meadows BC for $60.

Display option #3 The actual acrylic stands wholesalers use:o) Again I still needed two, but at under $50 CAD each It was totally reasonable. One holds most of my Sketch markers (288).

My second one holds my left over Sketches (11), Originals (12), and my Various Ink Refills (40).

Why do I own Originals and Sketch in the same colours you ask?????? I've been in a couple of situations where I needed the fine tip so what the heck I bought them too.

This marvelous solution was made possible by the AWESOME Copic retailer/stamp and Craft Supply store in my town called Be Creative. Not only are they warm and friendly they also have UNBEATABLE prices. In fact Marie ran a lower mainland Copic comparison on her blog and proved that they cant be beat:o)

Check it out here: http://marielovestostamp.blogspot.com/2009/01/copic-price-comparison.html
